Cookie Policy

Last updated: May 2025

This policy explains what cookies GeneAI uses on this platform, what they do, and how you can control them. We have kept this as simple and transparent as possible.

1. What Cookies We Use

We use three categories of cookies. Two are essential to how the platform works. One is optional and only activated with your consent.

Strictly Necessary

Cannot be disabled

These cookies are required for the platform to function. Without them, you would not be able to log in, submit a case, or use any secure feature of GeneAI. Because they are essential to the service you have requested, they do not require your consent under UK PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations). You cannot opt out of these cookies while using the platform.

Examples: session identifiers, CSRF protection tokens, authentication tokens.

Analytics

Consent required

These cookies collect anonymous information about how visitors use the platform — which pages are visited, how long is spent on each, and whether any errors occur. We use this data only to improve the platform. Analytics data is fully anonymised and cannot be used to identify you. These cookies are only set if you accept them via our cookie banner.

Analytics data is processed by GeneAI and is not shared with any advertising or tracking services.

Preferences

Consent required

These cookies remember your display preferences — such as language selection and accessibility settings — so you do not have to set them each time you return. They do not track you across websites and contain no identifying information. These cookies are only set if you accept them via our cookie banner.

2. No Advertising Cookies

GeneAI does not use advertising, tracking, or third-party marketing cookies of any kind. We do not partner with advertising networks. We do not track your behaviour across other websites. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not sell or share cookie data with any marketing, advertising, or data broker services.

This is a deliberate and permanent policy. As a platform handling sensitive health and genetic data, we believe using your browsing behaviour to serve you advertisements would be fundamentally inconsistent with the trust you place in us.

3. How to Manage Cookies

Cookie Banner

When you first visit GeneAI, a cookie banner will appear giving you the option to accept or decline optional cookies (analytics and preferences). Strictly necessary cookies are set automatically and cannot be declined. Your choice is saved and the banner will not appear again unless you clear your cookies or we update our policy.

Via Your Account Settings

If you have an account, you can change your cookie preferences at any time by going to Profile > Privacy Settings > Cookie Preferences. Changes take effect immediately.

Via Your Browser

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Here is how to do this in the most common browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data

  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data

  • Apple Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data

  • Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies

Note: Blocking strictly necessary cookies through your browser will prevent you from logging into GeneAI and using secure features of the platform.

5. Changes to This Policy

If we introduce new cookies or change how we use existing ones, we will update this policy and the cookie list table above. Material changes — such as adding a new cookie category — will be announced via our cookie consent banner, which will reappear to give you a fresh opportunity to review and confirm your preferences.

We will never introduce advertising or tracking cookies without giving you a prominent opportunity to decline them. The date at the top of this page reflects when this policy was last updated.
